How Did The Body Shop Drops Of Light Pure Resurfacing Liquid Peel Work For Me?

The The Body Shop Drops Of Light Pure Resurfacing Liquid Peel comes in a white plastic bottle packaging with a pump dispenser. The lock on the dispenser makes it super sturdy and travel friendly. The peel is thick and has a semi transparent gel consistency that is also easy to spread on the skin. It has a super mild fragrance which isn’t bothersome. The liquid peel is light and easy to work with. The TBS Pure Resurfacing Liquid Peel doesn’t sting or make skin itchy upon contact with the skin like most liquid peels out there. I have sensitive, acne-prone, combination skin for anyone’s reference. The peel can be used 2-3 times a week to see any visible results. Though the product claimed results from the first use, I did not see any result.

The Body Shop website doesn’t provide their ingredients list online which is quite annoying but I was able to pull it up from a different website. Let me give the breakdown in a bit. I take 1-2 pumps of the product and apply it on the cleansed, dry; face and neck. Once I started massaging The Body Shop Drops Of Light Pure Resurfacing Liquid Peel, it started balling up which most people thought was the dead skin and dirt but it actually was not. It’s the carbomer (cellulose) in the product that started balling up which people mistook for dead cells or dirt from the skin. This was not only highly misleading but this also puts a question mark on the efficacy of the product. I’ve used this for about 5-6 times and I’m yet to see any results that this product claims to do.

There are also other questionable ingredients like Alcohol Denat and Isopropyl Alcohol which is not ideal for dry and sensitive skin while there are alternative ingredients with anti microbial and astringent properties like Witch Hazel that wouldn’t dry out the skin. PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil is a notable ingredient in causing fungal acne. There’s also Fragrance which can irritate sensitive skin like mine giving a rash or two. The Glycerin and Propylene Glycol helps with conditioning the skin which I didn’t find effective because my combination skin felt pretty dry and stretchy post application. This product did nothing to smooth the texture of the skin but it helped with dissolving the sebum filaments on my nose in conjunction with a Korean product which I’m testing out at the moment will talk about in a month. So if you’re looking for an effective at home liquid peel then TBS Drops Of Light Pure Resurfacing Liquid Peel isn’t something I would necessarily recommend!

Most certainly you are entitled to your opinion which was/is based on your experience. I found this product although expensive, quite effective. I found it interesting that you didn’t notice any difference in re-surfacing. Is it possible other products you use or your youngish age may impact the results you saw? I work outdoors quite a bit, am older and have sun and environmental damaged skin. I notice a profound difference. The ‘skin balling up’ after use is very noticeable if I haven’t used the product for awhile without question and if I use it more often – isn’t nearly as notable. I find it does even out my skin tone and leaves it looking more fresh and refined. Like you, I have acne prone combination skin that can be quite sensitive to products occasionally.

Hi Tracy! Thank you for politely putting forth your opinion. I’m glad this product is working for you. Yes, there are a variety of factors which could affect the efficacy of skincare products. An acquaintance of mine liked this product as it effectively removed white and blackheads on her nose area. She’s a little bit older than me and her skin is also thicker than mine. Although, I don’t have as many black or whitehead issues on my skin I got this thinking it would effectively remove dead skin cells on my face as my skin is prone to hyper-pigment easily since I’m brown. My skin is reacting well when I use AHA, BHA in combination with Vitamin C & B3 to tackle acne marks and evening out my complexion. x

Same!! I just knew that those balled up white clumps was not dead skin cells. I can’t wait to return it!

Thank-you for taking the time to review this product and answer my suspicions regarding the “balling up”. I’m not a big product user, AT ALL, but I occasionally try to “play” with skin care. Put it this way, I don’t moisturise, cleanse, anything…. I liked the idea of a peel, it seems like a logical approach to cleaning your skin.

I tried this product and I generally feel as though it might actually be doing something. I was suspicious that the little clumps weren’t dead skin, even though it was so tempting to think they were. I came looking for a review that specifically addressed this question. Funny thing is, whenever I do it, I always get the clumps in the same areas of my face but not others…. this made me “hope” that maybe it wasn’t just the product clumping. I’m happy to know the truth though.

At the end of the day, I think my skin seems to look and certainly feel better after using it. I have no science to back up why…. perhaps my skin is just happy for any attention . I have rarely thought any product I have purchased in the past has had anything more than a placebo affect….. I’m less cynical about this product.

Anyway. Thanks again for the helpful review.
