We all want light, even-toned underarms but the basic everyday mistakes make them darker than the rest of the body. This is especially prominent with those that have naturally dark hair because the hair roots and follicles are much more darker than lighter hair colors which tend to give a dark appearance on the surface of the skin. These simple changes in your lifestyle will definitely lighten the armpits in a month or two! So without any further ado, let’s get into How To Get Light Underarms At Home!
Stop Shaving or Waxing-
Yes, you heard it right! Shaving will only darken the armpits making them look rough and uneven. Using dull blades will give the skin chicken skin-like appearance. Also, waxing will tug and pull the soft underarm skin which will make it sag in the long run. These may also cause ingrown hairs which are painful and cause the armpits to appear dark.
Exfoliate Every Other Day-
This is the second important thing to do. I use a good sugar or walnut scrub every other day in the shower. The mild exfoliation does help in the long run and also, keeps the underarms odor free.
Switch To Natural Bleaching Agents-
Ditch the chemical bleach as it is way too concentrated for the underarm area. Opt for mild bleaching agents like a lemon or potato slice and rub it on the armpits. Do this once or twice a week to see the visible difference.
Don’t Spray Deodorants and Perfumes-
The alcohol in the deodorant spray or perfume will dry out the skin and makes it rough and dark. Instead spray it on the pulse points like behind the ears, base of the throat, inside wrist, inside elbow and behind the knee. This makes the perfume last all day too.
Drink Lots of Fluids-
You’ve heard this a million times but yes keeping yourself hydrated will help the skin look plump and supple. Also, water helps flush out the toxins in the body which makes the skin appear clearer and even.
How do I get rid of armpit hairs then?
I only EPILATE my underarms, arms, and legs. Though it needs a little getting used to it is totally worth in my honest opinion. I started seeing a visible difference in just a few months. I use tweezers to get rid of any ingrown hairs and disinfect the area so I don’t get them in the future.
