Today’s review is going to be on the Himalaya Herbals Protective Sunscreen Lotion SPF 15. My favorite sunscreen is the Lotus Matte Look Sunscreen SPF 40 but one day when I was packing for a trip, I found out that it was almost empty 🙁 . I asked my mom to buy one when she was coming home but as it was out of stock, she bought this one instead. So how did the Himalaya Herbals Protective Sunscreen Lotion SPF 15 fare out?
What The Company Claims?
Overexposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays seriously threatens human health. Besides sunburn, prolonged exposure to UV radiation can cause premature ageing, suppression of the immune system and even skin cancer. Himalaya Herbals Protective Sunscreen Lotion is a double-action formulation that protects you from harmful UV rays and nourishes your skin. Protection-Breakthrough herbal extract Cinnabloc (U.S. Patented) gives long-lasting protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays and prevents skin darkening. Nourishment-Aloe Vera moisturizes the skin, while Apple extract prevents skin cell degeneration and premature skin ageing. Suitable for all skin types. Dermatologically tested. No harmful chemicals. CINNABLOC POWERED SUN PROTECTION! Himalaya has been granted a US Patent for discovering a natural sunscreen composition and using this in a cosmeceutical product. The active sunscreen agent CINNABLOC is extracted from the herbs Hedychium spicatum and Alpinia galangal that have natural UV rays protecting properties. The patented sunscreen composition gives your skin protection from UVA and UVB rays.
Directions For Use:
Apply liberally on exposed skin like face, neck and arms before going outdoors during the day. Avoid the area around eyes.
How Did The Himalaya Herbals Protective Sunscreen Lotion SPF 15 Work For Me?
The Himalaya Herbals Protective Sunscreen Lotion SPF 15 comes in a very sturdy white plastic packaging with a green flip open cap. While it is very travel friendly, once the sunscreen is nearly over, a lot of it gets stuck to the sides which is very annoying. I preferred the squeezy tube packaging which is not only travel friendly, but makes it easy to squeeze out all of the sunscreen. The Himalaya sunscreen is white in color, has a nice fragrance and has a thick consistency. When I applied it on my face, it made my oily skin look even more oily so the company claims that it works on all types of skins is completely wrong. It gets much worse when applying makeup after using it as it leaves a whitish cast on top which is very annoying. So in the end I have started using this on my body on days when I’m not under the sun a lot of the time. I have used it a number of times and it hasn’t broken me out.
I took the Himalaya SPF 15 Sunscreen thinking that it would be mostly organic with little to no chemicals as it is a Himalaya Herbals product but I was wrong. Just glancing down at the ingredients list, the list of chemicals is long and most of them were variants of Parabens almost all of them were listed in the bottle. One of the main reason why we wear sunscreen is to prevent skin cancer from the sun but parabens also cause cancer so I don’t know why the brand uses so much of this in the sunscreen. And finally coming to the SPF 15; when it comes to Chennai or India for that matter, you will need a minimum of SPF 30 in your sunscreen so the Himalaya Herbals Protective Sunscreen Lotion SPF 15 will only work upto a point but not to an adequate level. Overall, the Himalaya Herbals Sunscreen might be one of the most affordable sunscreens in India but I would rather spend more money to buy one that will have a higher SPF and also no parabens. As an alternative I can recommend the Lotus Matte Look Sunscreen SPF 40 or Jovees Sunscreen and Fairness Lotion SPF 25.
Would I Recommend The Himalaya Herbals Protective Sunscreen Lotion SPF 15?
