Hello my lovely angels! This time I’m reviewing a cult favorite in the beauty world. This drugstore concealer was launched several years back in the Northern Hemisphere but was released in India only a year or so back with a handful of shades. I’m talking about none other than the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer I got it in the shade Caramel. After the Fit Me Foundation fiasco, I was iffy about trying Maybelline complexion products. The shades they launch here mostly cater to fair and pale skin tones and the medium to darker complexions are left neglected. So after giving it a thought I took the plunge and got the concealer to try. Read on to find out my experience and how it worked on my sensitive, acne-prone, combination skin. For shade reference, I usually fall in the NC40-NC42 range. So without any further ado let’s get into the review of Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Caramel Concealer!

What Are The Product Claims?

This super-concentrated treatment concealer features a micro-corrector applicator to help instantly erase dark circles and fine lines.

How Did The Product Work For Me?

The Maybelline Caramel Concealer comes in a plastic twisty packaging with a micro-foam-like applicator. I like this packaging because you can twist and get even the last drop of the product out. The foam applicator helps evenly apply the product to the skin. The formula of this concealer is rich and creamy. The pigmentation of this concealer is mind-blowing. One light layer covers 80-90% of the blemishes and other skin imperfections.

If any other blemishes are still peeking through I will go in with a small brush to spot conceal those areas. The concealer sets itself to a beautiful skin-like, satin finish but I’d lightly set it in place with the Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Powder or the Sephora Microsmooth Powder.

You can even easily cover tattoos with this gorgeous concealer. It stays in place all day without creasing or budging which is a great plus because since I live in a hot humid place I don’t like products that slip and slide around my face. This concealer is a dream to blend even though it is full coverage it doesn’t settle into any fine lines or look caked up. It lightly smooths out the texture of the skin as well. And the best part is it didn’t break me out.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in Caramel

Now the not-so-nice part is, Maybelline and other brands know very well that India is a diverse country with a huge spectrum of complexions. Here you can find people with very pale skin tones to extremely rich darker skin tones to everything in between yet this brand chose to launch only 8 shades (7 of them were just different shades of beige) which is not shocking at this point because every single brand is doing the same thing to us for years yet we suck it up and still proceed to buy their products and put money in their pockets.

As mentioned earlier, I’m a light-medium complexioned person and I had to go with the darkest shade from the entire range because the other 7 shades were extremely pale shades of beige on me. Imagine if you’re someone a little darker than me you cannot find a shade that matches your complexion. If I tan a little bit even Caramel would look light on me. Even in this age and time, a huge part of the population is neglected by brands like this and not everyone has the ability to go get themselves matched at MAC counters. Brands need to do better research and be more inclusive because this is starting to get on our nerves. By ‘our’ I mean every brown girl in India.
