Hello! How are you doing, my lovelies? I am not so good I had a wisdom tooth extraction, and it’s been brutal for the past few days. Half of my face is swollen so badly, and the pain is excruciating. But I am distracting myself by watching or doing something light because all I could consume are liquids, so it’s been mostly fruit juices and cold soups. And I feel giddy if I try to do anything even a little strenuous. I have also been quite mindful of the news and content I am consuming of late to preserve my mental health.

Enough rambling coming back to today’s product skincare enthusiasts must know that Niacinamide has taken the beauty world by storm. This magical ingredient is non-irritating while being robust in delivering so many excellent skincare benefits. Since I started breaking out because of wearing face masks, I quickly started incorporating Niacinamide in my skincare routine, and I was absolutely blown away by its efficacy. I wanted to get a bomb-ass face toner, and that is when I came across The Derma Co. 5% Niacin Toner. I have tried this brand’s Niacinamide Serum before, and I was pretty happy with the results, so I decided to give this toner a shot. Without any further ado, let’s get into the review of The Derma Co. 5% Niacin Toner, shall we?

What Are The Company Claims?

The Derma Co. 5% Niacin Toner is formulated with pure Yuzu Fruit Extract (Vitamin C), Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), and Glycerin. The combination of Yuzu with Niacinamide works to slowly exfoliate pore congestion, tighten pores, control sebum secretion, and reverse pigmentation effects. It also contains antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties to kill bacteria and minimize the further occurrence of acne and blemishes. Niacinamide also soothes active acne lesions and helps heal relatively new acne scars. This brightening and refreshing toner contain vitamins that will nourish the skin and energize it.

The Derma Co. 5% Niacin Toner is suitable for anyone with uneven skin tone and looking for a solution for open pores. It is suitable for all skin types.

What Are The Benefits?

Corrects Uneven Skin Tone – The powerful antioxidant combination of Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) and Yuzu Fruit (Vitamin C) is all you need to correct uneven skin tone. They work together with skin cells to reverse UV and free radical damage, improve uneven skin tone, and diminish dullness. In short, it takes you closer to your skin goals.

Unclogs & Tightens Pores – The Derma Co. 5% Niacin Toner contains citrus extract (Yuzu Fruit) that gently exfoliates to visibly minimize enlarged (clogged) pores, blot out excess oil, and stop any bacterial/fungal activity. It also has Niacinamide that increases collagen production to improve elasticity, tighten lax pores, and eliminate traces of post-acne bump or lesions. Make way for healthy and clear skin.

Regulates Sebum Production – Niacinamide stimulates Keratin (protein) production that further inhibits melanin production. It is highly effective in improving the appearance of pores, fine lines, and scars. Along with Glycerin, this hardworking ingredient enhances the skin’s barrier function by preventing moisture loss and protecting it from acne-causing bacteria.

How Did The Derma Co.5% Niacin Toner Work For Me?

The Derma Co. 5% Niacin Toner comes in a regular white plastic can packaging with purple label and dispensing the product is so easy. Since the quantity is 200ml, it is quite big, so if you are traveling, you can transfer some to a small spray bottle or dispenser. The Derma Co. 5% Niacin Toner is water-like consistency with a very faint smell, nothing overpowering, but if you are someone who avoids fragrance in skincare at all costs, then this product is not for you. You can either dispense the product on a cotton round or the palms of the hand and directly pat it into the skin. The toner is non-sticky or greasy, gets absorbed into the skin very easily, and doesn’t leave any residue.

I find The Derma Co. 5% Niacin Toner to be relatively lightweight, calms the skin, and doesn’t dry it out. I have been using it for the past two weeks, and it hasn’t broken me out, so it can be used on acne-prone, sensitive skin. It controls sebum decently, but a 10% Niacinamide Serum would do a better job if you are looking for better results. If you have inflamed skin, then using this may soothe it while repairing the skin’s barrier. I am not sure how this product would perform on normal to dry skin as my skin is quite oily. The one major thing I did notice while using this product is how glowy my skin looks. I am yet to see any significant difference in how it works on fading the hyperpigmentation on my face.

Since my skincare routine is quite elaborate and hydrating, the denatured alcohol hasn’t fortunately caused any sensitivities. I hope they avoid adding fragrances to their line in the future. Overall The Derma Co. 5% Niacin Toner is a decent toner that is quite affordable if you are looking to buy one for skin brightening and pore tightening.

Now, if you are a skincare nerd like me, then keep on reading. I will get into the nitty-gritty of The Derma Co. 5% Niacin Toner. I love decoding ingredients in skincare, so this product is no different. I have some pros and cons about this product, so if you like to geek out on skincare ingredients, then let’s get into it.

GOOD INGREDIENTS-

After the water is the first ingredient in this toner, Pure Yuzu Fruit Extract (Vitamin C) is an excellent ingredient for the skin. It is loaded with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory agents, and soothing properties. The third ingredient is Niacinamide, AKA Vitamin B3, which is the star ingredient of this toner. It has taken the beauty world by storm, and I started incorporating this ingredient in my skincare routine almost a year back when I started breaking out due to wearing face masks thanks, COVID-19, for the amazing gift. Just when I thought I beat acne after a very long struggle. sighs Glycerin is a cheap and decent moisturizer used in skincare products. Several variants of Vitamin C are used in this toner, from the Pure Yuzu Extract to now Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, again a wonderful ingredient. Arbutin beautifully fades brown spots in the skin by hindering melanin activity.

OKAY INGREDIENTS-

Tocopheryl Acetate is a decent version of Vitamin E used in most skincare. Retinyl Palmitate is again a weaker form of Vitamin A AKA Retinol. I don’t know how I feel about mixing Vitamin C and Retinol even though the Retinyl Palmitate used here is lower in percentage and takes time to work through our metabolic activity. Ascorbyl Palmitate is again a questionable version of Pure Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) with little to no proven efficacy.

NOT SO GOOD INGREDIENTS-

I am now coming to the not-so-nice part of the ingredients list. The first one being denatured alcohol. It is highly sensitizing to the skin and could cause inflammation, so whatever job the Niacinamide is doing to hydrate and repair the skin could potentially be destroyed by this ingredient. Another unnecessary ingredient used in this toner is fragrance. This again could sensitize the skin and could irritate it. The Derma Co. 5% Niacin Toner also contains several comedogenic ingredients which might cause some people to break out.

Overall, if you are looking to buy an affordable toner for sebum control and pore refining then The Derma Co. 5% Niacin Toner might be worth a shot.
